The Challenge
Despite being a lifeline for families in crisis—providing food, emergency assistance, and temporary housing—Shelter in a Storm faced a critical barrier: invisibility. With no website, no dedicated phone line, and no digital presence at all, families had little way of discovering or connecting with the organization.
As a result, only 2–3 families were reaching out for help each month, far below the true level of need in the community.
The Solution
To unlock their impact, we partnered with Shelter in a Storm to build a complete digital foundation:
- Professional website (shelterinastorm.org) with a modern, approachable design
- Streamlined online request forms for families to quickly ask for help
- Mobile-first design ensuring accessibility from any device
- Clear, welcoming content outlining available services and how to access them
- Prominent contact details for immediate support
- Consistent branding that conveys professionalism and trust
The Results
The results were both immediate and transformational:
- Help Requests: Grew from 2–3 per month to 30+ per month
- Online Visibility: Elevated from zero presence to a professional, community-facing hub
- User Experience: Delivered a simple, trustworthy, and supportive online journey for families in need
The Impact
Since launching the new platform, Shelter in a Storm has dramatically expanded its reach and effectiveness:
-
200+ individuals connected with vital assistance
-
6,000+ pantry items distributed to families in need
-
$55,000 donated and invested directly into community support
-
10x increase in the number of families served every month
Their website is now the central hub for hope, comfort, and access to resources.
Moving Forward
This project demonstrates how digital transformation can multiply a nonprofit’s impact. By making services visible, accessible, and trustworthy online, Shelter in a Storm is now positioned to meet the real needs of its community—proving that even modest digital investments can yield extraordinary results.
"I just want to say the website is looking phenomenal! It's so sleek, professional, easy to use, and true to who we are. In this day and age, I know that scrolling through it will bring someone hope and comfort when they have no where else to turn."
